Chickens

Backyard Hens for Roundup, MT
Attention Roundup Chicken-Lovers!

Did you know that, Roundup's City Council voted to change city ordinances, allowing residents to keep a limited number of hens (not roosters) within city limits? Whether you're excited about fresh eggs, have a 4Her in the family that's eager for a project, or you would like help building your garden soil and getting rid of your pulled weeds and kitchen scraps, chickens can help.

You must apply for a chicken permit at Roundup's City Office (34 3rd Ave W / 406-323-2804) before acquiring any birds. There is a fee required, as well as some things to keep in mind while you put together your coop (space requirements per bird, offsets from property boundaries and residences, food and manure storage specifications, etc), so it is worth making a careful study of the regulations before diving into your project.
