2019 FWP hails
 Roundup Urban Deer Hunt as
success

billingsgazette.com

The special Roundup urban deer hunt that ended Feb. 15 has succeeded in reducing vehicle collisions and complaints about aggressive animals in and around town.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks scheduled the three-month archery-only hunt on land owned by the city of Roundup (including the golf course), Musselshell County and two private parties to address unacceptable levels of property damage and concern for human safety in and around town. This was the fifth winter for the hunt.

Archery Hunt

The City of Roundup is implementing the Deer Management hunt for the third year. The decisions to implement this hunt came down to a large number of complaints of aggressive deer in town. The City will measure the success of the hunt by the reduction in aggressive deer complaints. 11 deer were harvested in  2014-2015. 30 deer were harvested in 2015-2016. 15 deer were harvested in 2016-2017.
The City will continue this hunt on a year by year basis.
