WATERThe main objective of the Roundup Water Department is to provide the citizens of Roundup with usable, safe water. The Water crew works hard maintaining the water lines, checking the wells, collecting samples and performing various tests to assure that this objective is met. The city water is safe for drinking although some may say it has a terrible smell and taste. Most of the citizens purchase drinking water.
The City water is provided by wells. It is tested monthly to meet State Water Quality Standards. The present water supply for Roundup consists of two wells located near the fairgrounds. The water is then pumped to a water storage tank on the North side of town. The Total capacity of the storage tank is 2,000,000 gallons. |
SEWERThe Sewer Department also provides an essential service for the comfort and well being of the citizens of Roundup. The sewer crew works hard in all kinds of weather to keep the sewer main lines running clear and free of blockages. The sewer crew is also responsible for maintaining the storm drains.
If you experience a sewer back-up, please call the Roundup Public Works Department first so that the sewer crew may check the main line. You will then be informed of the appropriate next step. |

Neptune Water Meters
The City replaced all the water meters in 2015. The new meters are read by a handheld device. The meters provide accurate water reading and can tell home owners if they have a continuous leak. The meters cut down on the man hours to read the entire town. All meters can be read in a matter of minutes.
Water Main ReplacementApproximately 40% of the water mains in Roundup consist of cast iron pipe that is nearly 100 years old. The deteriorated condition impacts the City's water quality. The City has been working on updating the entire water system since 2011.
